What is CrossFit? CrossFit is broadly defined as constantly varied functional movement performed at high-intensity. CrossFit is a lifestyle characterized by safe, effective exercise and sound nutrition. CrossFit can be used to accomplish any goal, from improved health to weight loss to better performance. The program works for everyone — people who are just starting out and people who have trained for years. CrossFit workouts are different every day and can be modified to help each athlete achieve their goals. The workouts may be adapted for people at any age and level of fitness. In CrossFit workouts, intensity levels are adjusted to challenge the individual and safely improve fitness. There are 10 recognized general physical skills. They are cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. You are as fit as you are competent in each of these 10 skills. A regimen develops fitness to the extent that it improves each of these 10 skills.

Importantly, improvements in endurance, stamina, strength and flexibility come about through training. Training refers to activity that improves performance through a measurable organic change in the body. By contrast, improvements in coordination, agility, balance and accuracy come about through practice. Practice refers to activity that improves performance through changes in the nervous system. Power and speed are adaptations of both training and practice.

And if you’ve never had a fitness routine before, it’s extremely important to start with a personal trainer to have a safe, results-driven plan.

We have 30 minute and 60 minute sessions available at times that will fit your schedule and at a price that will fit your budget. You do not have to be a member of Table Rock CrossFit to take advantage of our 1-on-1 coaching. Anyone is welcome. Members may also take advantage of this personally tailored training to help them improve their skills outside of the group classes.
